Himalayan Charity Trek

A Redruth man has raised over £5,000 for charities from a 15-day Himalayan trek. The funds will go to the Children’s Hospice South West and Nepal’s Mount Kailash School Charitable Trust.

Lettuce and Lovage opens

Lettuce and Lovage, a new vegetarian restaurant in Truro, held an official opening party. Guests were invited to taste and then vote for their favourite organic wines to create the restaurant’s wine list, and were treated to a luxurious selection of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free canapés.

Coodes Expands

Cornish law firm Coodes Solicitors has opened new offices across Cornwall and Devon, in Truro, St Austell, Launceston and Holsworthy. At the Truro office launch party, guests were treated to canapés and drinks, and Daphne Skinnard of BBC Radio Cornwall cut the ribbon and finished the evening with a closing speech.

I’m Glad I’m in Cornwall

Cornwall Pure Business and Coodes Solicitors held a networking event entitled ‘I’m Glad I’m in Cornwall’. It was a gathering of companies from all over Cornwall, who are enjoying the benefits of both working and living in our beautiful county.

An Evening with Michael Caines

Diners at Fifteen Cornwall were treated to inspired dishes and entertaining commentary from the two-Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines. Michael joined Fifteen Cornwall’s own Executive Chef Neil Haydock and a team of professional and apprentice chefs, to bring together French- and Italian-inspired dishes with a Cornish twist.

Festival of Christmas Trees

Friends and supporters of Sennen’s Festival of Christmas Trees enjoyed mulled wine, mince pies and music at the preview evening.

Masked Ball

The Cornwall Social Group celebrated its 10th anniversary in style by holding a masked ball at Plymouth Novotel. Cornwall Social Group and Devon Social Group now have more than 1,000 members and the groups provide a range of social activities such as parties, themed evenings, and outdoor events like canoeing, cycling and walks.

Maritime Reception

The life of Ian Proctor and his outstanding boat designs were celebrated with an intimate reception for friends and family in the new Study Boat Area at the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth. His sons Roger and Keith, along with some former employees, enjoyed an evening of recognition of this great designer’s work.

Flambards Fundraising

This is the second year that the sporting lunch, as it is known, has been held at Flambards’ Kingsford venue. More than 100 guests enjoyed champagne cocktails and a four-course meal. Entertainment was provided by jazz band Time Out, with guest speaker footballer Steve Perryman MBE and comedian Stewart Masters; Master of Ceremonies was David Fitzgerald. A charity auction concluded the lunch and the event raised £2,650 for Cancer Funding for Cornwall.

The Publisher and staff at Cornwall Life held their Autumn Luncheon at The Nare Hotel. Sixty guests were treated to a drinks reception followed by a delicious lunch set in the most wonderful surroundings.
